At our 1010 Dean Street facility

Our group fitness classes are designed to help you become faster, stronger, and better prepared for whatever life throws your way. We combine thoughtful programming with expert coaching and a supportive community to make every workout effective and fun.

Full-body, one-hour workouts that are challenging and fun!

  • Borrowed from the best training techniques of Olympic weightlifters, powerlifters, gymnasts, and track & field athletes

  • Scaled to your ability level

  • Community-focused and FUN

These classes are best for athletes with 3+ months of CrossFit or similar experience. If you don’t meet that requirement yet, we recommend starting with a Private Training Orientation before joining. Please contact us to schedule your orientation.

sTRENGTH & CARDIO

Approachable functional training for all fitness levels.

  • One-hour sessions using dumbbells, kettlebells, and accessible cardio

  • No prior experience required

  • Perfect for improving strength, endurance, and overall fitness

Classes are offered regularly throughout the week, and we offer a Free Trial during our Sunday session for those visiting us for the first time.

  • 90-minute classes emphasizing proper barbell technique

  • Two major lifts + accessory movements each session

  • Open to all experience levels

  • Drop-ins welcome

Offered Tuesdays and Fridays at 6:30 pm in the Side Area of our main gym, and Sundays at 11:30am on the Main Floor.

REady to get started?

If you’re new to CrossTraining or the barbell sports, we recommend beginning with a Private Training Orientation so you’re confident and prepared to join classes or barbell team sessions. You DO NOT need experience or the private training orientations if you are attending the S&C or Barbell Strength Class, but you will benefit from it.

You can also schedule an appointment to tour our facilities, learn about our classes, and discuss the best path for your goals. All appointments meet at MOC Brooklyn (964 Dean Street).

MOC Barbell is dedicated to the barbell sports of Weightlifting and Powerlifting—with a training environment that supports everyone from complete beginners to elite competitors. Our coaches are experienced, knowledgeable, and focused on helping you improve technique, strength, and performance in a welcoming community.

WEIGHTLIFTING

Weightlifting focuses on two competitive lifts:

  • Snatch

  • Clean & Jerk

These lifts build strength, speed, flexibility, and athleticism. While the movements are complex, our coaching staff breaks them down so athletes of all levels can progress safely and confidently.

Team Training

  • Structured but self-paced sessions

  • Coaches provide individualized feedback during sessions

  • Open to athletes with Platinum, Gold, or Silver monthly memberships

  • Private Training Orientation is required for those new to the sport before attending team sessions

Weekly Training Schedule:

  • Monday: 5:00 pm & 6:30 pm

  • Tuesday: 8:00 am, 5:00 pm & 6:30 pm

  • Thursday: 8:00 am, 5:00 pm & 6:30 pm

  • Saturday: 9:00 am & 11:00 am

WEIGHTLIFTING COACHES

  • Head Coach Kurt Roderick is a USA Weightlifting National Coach with over 12 years experience in the sport. He holds a masters degree in Human Performance, and is an IWF Category 1 Technical Official. He has led the club to victories at the national level. In 2023 he was recognized for his accomplishments by being awarded weightlifting Coach of the Year for New York state.escription text goes here

  • Coach Miguel is a national level competitor and USAW Level 1 Coach with a long history of coaching strength training as a weightlifting coach and personal trainer.

  • Coach Assem Sadykova is a USAW Level 1 Coach. She was a member of the Kazakhstan National Team and has competed at multiple World Championships.

  • Coach Krys Bussell is a USAW Level 2 Coach. He works primarily with our High School weightlifting team, and has taken multiple athletes to Junior and Youth National Championships.

Powerlifting centers on the Big 3 lifts:

  • Back Squat

  • Bench Press

  • Deadlift

This sport is highly approachable for all athletes and is an excellent way to build functional strength through progressive training.

Team Training

  • Self-paced sessions with coaching support

  • Open with Platinum, Gold or Silver monthly membership

  • Private Training Orientation is required for those without experience

Powerlifting coaches

  • Head Coach Miguel has a long history training other in strength sports. He has worked with beginners to advanced athletes.text goes here

  • Coach Kurt is a USAPL Coach and Referee for USAPL and Powerlifting America. He has his NSCA CSCS and is finishing a master's in Sport Performance. He is excited to help build and structure our team program.

  • Coach Cooper is a national level powerlifter and has coached athletes at local and national events.

Getting started

New to Weightlifting or Powerlifting?
All athletes without prior experience are required to complete a Private Training Orientation before joining team training sessions. These sessions teach foundational movements and ensure you’re ready to train confidently and safely. You DO NOT have to compete to be a part of the team!

Membership Requirements
To participate in team training, athletes must hold one of our Platinum, Gold, or Silver monthly MOC Barbell & Fitness memberships.
